Welding and cutting fumes

Welding smoke is released during welding and cutting. Breathing in this smoke damages your health, and can result in lung disease. When welding, large particles fly into the air as welding spatter. The small invisible particles remain suspended in the air as welding fumes. A lot of different substances are present in welding fumes. Exactly which substances or gases are released depends on the material being welded, the welding process, and the additive.

Protection against exposure

It is important that protective measures are taken during welding and cutting work to prevent exposure to welding and cutting fumes.

When planning work, the measures to provide protection against welding and cutting fumes must be carefully considered.

Strict legislation

The concentration of welding and cutting fumes in the air breathed by workers must not exceed the limit of 1 mg/m3
